Big Scottish Saturday Success!! 🏴

April proved to be a very productive month with some stellar performances.
First up was bumper debutante Seedling. A mare who has shown plenty at home even if she is still on the weak side. She settled well, quickened up smartly and despite being forced 5 wide turning in, she went on to score by 1/2 a length under Bryan Carver. This performance wasn’t a surprise as she shows herself to be a speedy mare at home. After her summers break she will likely be trained for the listed bumper at Huntingdon in December where a flat track should suit her well.
We took 4 horses to the Scottish Ayr Festival all with chances and were delighted all 4 picked up prize money. But without question the mares on the Saturday were the stars.
Ooh Betty was bidding to go a couple of places better than her close 3rd in last years Scottish Champion Hurdle. However with torrential rain the ground turned heavy and the task changed to how much prize money can she pick up! She ran a tremendous race, battled hard and stayed on strongly to finish 3rd once again. She has had a fantastic season and will reappear in October.
Game Colours had won just 2 starts previously over 2 miles at Exeter and we set her a very different task this time, over 3 miles in a £45k mares handicap. There was evidence to suggest this trip was well worth ago and I’m delighted we were brave and tried it. She travelled sweetly throughout, cruised to the front approaching the last and went onto score by 1 1/4 lengths under Sam Twiston-Davies. She has had an incredible career finishing in the first 3 in 12 of her last 13 starts. We will be trying to achieve black type next winter which will stand her in good stead come her broodmare days. To bag another big Saturday ITV winner was a real thrill and topped off a great season for the team.
