Dr Kananga 2nd at Fontwell

Dr Kananga has been a fantastic servant to the yard for a number of years. However over the last 18 months he’s been suffering with his wind. In August he had pretty major wind surgery and it his taken a few runs for his confidence to return this term.

Yesterday under a positive Tom Bellamy he looked much more like his old self, jumping boldly and for the first time in a while looking like he’s back enjoying his job. He finished 2nd in the 3 mile 1f handicap chase, carrying 12stone and giving the winner 20lb.

He was still fairly full of beans jogging back to the stables after and I hope this now will give him the confidence to fully let himself down and trust his wind.

Delighted for his owners as patience has been rewarded and we can now look forward to next time.
