Ready or not!
Its been over 3 months since we first moved in to our new base at Higher Crockermoor in Dorset and we are now on the verge of sending out our first runners.
The last few months have seen the horses settle into their new work routine and surroundings. As with any trainer in new facilities the challenge is building a work regime for the horses. I have found this hugely enjoyable, and I am very happy with where the horses are for the time of year. The 2 gallops we use here at Higher Crockermoor compliment each other perfectly. The Oval gallop for longer steady cantering in testing Severn Sand and the hill gallop rising steadily 200ft where the bulk of their work is done. The horses have done plenty of work but not forgetting it’s a long season. Some of the horses have been away for a racecourse gallop to test the waters in terms of fitness and we’ve been very satisfied with the outcome of each away day.
It has been fantastic to have so many of you down to see the new base and show you your horses on the gallops. Not forgetting quite a few lunches at the local pub in East Coker!
We do still have a few shares left in 3 exciting individuals. Somethingtosomeone 2nd on her only Irish ptp run who is due to run in a couple of weeks in a mares maiden hurdle, a 3 year old stunning Getaway gelding who is howing us plenty & 5 year old Nathaniel gelding Renoir who was placed in a bumper and a winner on the flat who will be going novice hurdling in 5 weeks time. Please do get in touch if you’d like more details or to view these horses on the gallops.
We are hugely excited to have our first runners from Higher Crockermoor, we believe we have some lovely individuals who will provide our owners with some exciting days on the racecourse.
