Ooh Betty Is Just Denied In Thriller🏴 🥉
We ventured to Scotland for the second time in 3 weeks for another £100,000 race this time in the Scottish Champion Hurdle under Ben Jones.
Betty was smartly away over the first few hurdles before losing her pitch through the heavily watered ground entering the back straight. She looked booked for 5th jumping 3 out but once she hit the quicker ground she really got motoring and absolutely took off up the run in to finish a flying home 3rd beaten a short head and neck. At the very top level it’s tiny margins that make the difference. If 2 out hadn’t been omitted or the ground in the back straight was as it was on the Friday I’d like to think she’d have won. But even so we are immensely proud of a fantastic result at the very top level and she picked up very good prize money again for her owners.
We may well look at the Swinton hurdle at Haydock in May before she heads off for a well earned break.
Over the last couple of weeks we have overtaken our best ever prize money tally. Our previous best was £116,000 and we currently stand at over £135,000 with a couple of weeks to go. We still have plenty of nice horses to run if the ground conditions allow.
