Holidays Over…. Let The Preparations Begin….

The summer has been very quiet on the racing front with just 8 runners since 1st May. 6 of the 8 did finish in the first 4, however we did anticipate being a lot busy through May, but with no rainfall the decision was taken to pack the horses off on their holidays and bide our time.

Although quiet on the racing front we have been busy buying plenty of new horses to bolster our team. A couple of horses have shares available, so whether it’s a form horse ready to run in novice hurdles this winter or a 3 year old store, we have you covered with some quality individuals.

It’s been a changing of the guard over the last 12 months with stalwarts The Galloping Bear, Dr Kananga and Endless Escape all retired into lovely new homes. During this time Ooh Betty has taken up the baton at the top level for us winning 5 and being placed a further 10 times, 4 times in listed and graded races. We look forward to Betty making her seasonal reappearance most likely on 1st November at Wetherby.

We have lots of horses who progressed very nicely last year who should continue to make their presence felt at some nice meetings. We have more young horses than ever before and we hope to unearth a star or 2 amongst them.

We currently have 21 horses in training with another 4 to come in shortly, making this our biggest team of horses to date. We are pleased to have recruited some new members of staff who are settling in very well, I’m delighted to have them part of our team.

The horses currently in training will have completed a couple of weeks trotting before having their first steady canter at the end of next week. They all summered well and are fresh and happy to be back in work.

It’s a very exciting time of year seeing the horses return to training and assessing the ammunition for the season ahead. Plans are being made. Hopes, expectations and dreams are very much alive and we can’t wait to get started towards the end of October.

Our Owners day this year takes place on the 13th September. If anybody is interested in getting involved in the yard and would like to attend, please drop the office an email as this is a good opportunity to see the team.
