Ben has made a fantastic start to his training career. Recording 19 winners in the first 18 months including a Surrey National victory, a Sandown double and his first Cheltenham Festival runners.
29 winners trained and just shy of £250,000 of prize money earnt.
Ben rode for five seasons in point-to-points and a brief spell as a conditional jockey. However, from the age of 18 training racehorses was always his ambition and the journey started by training two point-to-point horses whilst also working as assistant trainer to Anthony Honeyball, a position he held for two-and-a-half years. Over the coming years, two horses became three and with success the training adventure grew.
Ben trained 19 PtP winners and 5 hunterchase winners in the amateur ranks before taking out his National Hunt license in the autumn of the 21/22 season.
Ben is relentless in his pursuit for perfection
A very hands-on approach is taken to ensure no stone is left unturned when readying his horses, leaving his owners in no doubt they want for nothing and are always ready to perform to their best. Ben intends to build a quality select team of horses to go to war with, stating large numbers aren’t of interest, it’s knowing each individual and increasing quality year-on-year.
First runners at the Cheltenham Festival
After Ben’s first two seasons with a National Hunt licence he had trained 24 winners as well as having his first runners at the Cheltenham Festival, a double at Sandown Park, a Surrey National victory and Endless Escape’s four novice hurdle victories on the bounce – these are already some lofty achievements but no doubt more big days are just around the corner.
