Bear To Hang Up His Running Shoes & New Syndicate Opportunities!

Bear

May has been a quiet month for the yard with just a few runners and the vast majority of the team enjoying some sun on their backs and lots of grass.

Although quiet on the racetrack, there has been lots going on in preparation for the horses returning to training in July. All the boxes have now been pressure washed, disinfected, creosoted with just a little more painting to be done.

This is also the time where we will all try and sneak off for a few days break to recharge the batteries in preparation to kick on when the horses return next month.

We have also over the past few weeks retired and moved a few horses on to different careers. Most notably the decision has been taken to retire The Galloping Bear. He has been a superstar for us winning 3 ptps, 2 hunterchases, carrying top weight on handicap debut to win the Surrey national, winning the grand national trial and all the pain that came with that, finishing runner up in the Eider at Newcastle and lining up on 2 occasions in the Welsh national. Although he finished 2nd under top weight in the west wales national in March, we feel now is the time for him to call it a day. He’s finishing sound and will be able to go off and pursue a new career outside of racing. To have a horse to run on so many big days has been incredibly special. He is the ultimate warrior and I and the team will miss him sorely. When his next home is found in the coming weeks it will certainly be a very sad day to see him leave his box.

We have been busy buying 3 new horses for next season. Firstly a lovely Irish pointer named ‘A Perfect Day’ purchased at Cheltenham sale in May for an existing owner. He ran a lovely race on debut finishing 2nd at Dawstown.

Somethingtosomeone is a gorgeous daughter of Jetaway we purchased after finishing 2nd on her only start in a 12 runner maiden at Ballysteen. We’ve loved what we’ve seen since she arrived with us and I’m very much looking forward to the autumn with her. She is for sale in 1/8th shares.

Finally a big strapping unnamed son of Getaway out of a 147 race mare. I’m hugely excited by this lad. He seems to have everything. Size, great attitude and a lovely pedigree to match. Very exciting individual. Also being syndicated into 1/8 shares.

For more syndicate details on both ‘Somethingtosomeone’ and the unnamed Getaway. Go to the ‘For Sale’ page or alternatively get in touch with Ben.
