Betty Breezes To Ludlow Success
A busy day for the yard yesterday with 2 runners at Ffos Las under Ben Jones and 1 runner at Ludlow under Brian Hughes, these being our first runners of the new season.
Ooh Betty had run a cracker last time out being beaten a neck in an 18 runner handicap at Exeter after a break and she progressed again yesterday to win comfortably by 5 1/2 lengths at Ludlow. Given a smooth ride by champion jockey Brian Hughes he never left the rail, produced her to challenge 3 out and then went on to score readily. We purchased Ooh Betty 12 months ago and have bought her on steadily and her owners are now reaping the rewards.
We’ll see how the handicapper reacts but she could be one for a novice hurdle under a penalty in a few weeks time. Sally has struck up a good partnership with Betty at home and knows how to keep her happy and in good shape so a lot of credit goes to her.
Good Friday Fairy was denied a second win in 11 days having made all the running he just got caught with 75 yards to the line finishing a gallant second.
He was pestered for the first mile of the race which certainly didn’t help and then made a mistake 3 out, in spite of this I’m delighted with his progress of the last few weeks finishing 2nd twice and winning easily at Chepstow. He’ll now head for a summer holiday and is a horse I’m really looking forward to next season with!
