Flaggy Shore Oozes Class

The Flaggy Shore made an instant impression last season when bolting up in a Warwick bumper in November. She was then narrowly touched off finishing 2nd in a listed bumper at Market Rasen. She also ran in desperate ground in another listed bumper at Sandown where we looked after her in tough conditions.

After a couple of months break the plan was to try and run in a maiden hurdle in May. We were just keen for her to return to better ground and have an enjoyable first experience over hurdles. In the search for safe ground we ended up running against geldings with 2 bumper winners in opposition. Not overtrained for this, she ran very fresh bowling away in front jumping exuberantly and going onto score by 12 lengths on the bridle under David Noonan.

This wasn’t a surprise as we think she’s a graded novice horse with lofty targets next spring. She will now enjoy a 2 month holiday before returning to the track in November.

We have been lucky to train some very decent mares novice hurdlers in Endless Escape, Game Colours & Ooh Betty and I have no doubt Flaggy will give owner Adrian Paterson an exciting season.

Delighted to get off the mark so early on and to provide jockey David Noonan with his first winner back since a nasty injury. He’s a jockey who will be seen riding regularly for us next season.
